Our success as a
new government will depend on how well we can rise to the challenges
presented by the 21st century and the realities of our modern economy. We must take a new look at how we use our land, how we train our
workforce, and how we approach economic opportunities. We must
re-energize our economy.
New Land
Use Policies: Cuyahoga County is a great place to live, and together, we
can make it even greater. The new county government should establish an
incentive-based program to bring people and businesses back into
abandoned properties and brownfields. Together we can rebuild our
communities and re-energize Cuyahoga County.
Workforce
Development: Connecting Cuyahoga County residents to jobs is critical
for energizing our region. For many families in District 11, access to
employment is their single greatest need. We'll implement programs that
get all county residents the training they need to connect to
employment opportunities.
County
Development Fund: For economic development activity to have the greatest
impact, we must first create a unified, strategic vision for
re-energizing our county. At the heart of this vision is a vibrant public-private partnership. Creating a County Economic Development Venture
Fund will ensure that we get the most value from projects we undertake,
and that development benefits the county as a whole, rather than just a
few select cities. By working together, we'll leverage all of
Cuyahoga's incredible assets to bring the best organizations to
Northeast Ohio.
