The citizens of Cuyahoga County have spoken: it is time for a change in how Cuyahoga County operates. We are committed to bringing the county the government it deserves. As part of this effort, we’ll work to ensure that county government operates efficiently, uses taxpayer money wisely, and above all is open, honest, and accountable to the citizens.
Efficient Operations: It’s simple: there’s no greater purpose for our county government than ensuring the health and well-being of Cuyahoga’s residents through our health and human services. At the same time, we must reduce the tax burden on residents by keeping our budgets in check and ensuring fairness in the contracting process. By working together and using data and technology, we can drive down costs while improving government services.
Smart budgeting: In these tough economic times, where both household and governmental budgets are tighter, making every dollar work harder is critical. Phil will promote better use of taxpayer dollars by working with many groups: the federal government, state government, private businesses, non-profits and foundations, as well as our local cities, towns, and townships. Phil will seek opportunities to build partnerships to help both county and city governments get more for their money.
Open Government: Government exists by and for the people. Phil is committed to ensuring our new county government is, above all, transparent, accessible, and accountable to the public. Citizens must be able to see county records and be aware of their government’s operations. For our government to be successful, we must be able to trust it.
